Smart
Mirror
Have
you ever had trouble choosing new glasses, because you can’t see
the new glasses without wearing your old glasses? One third of eyeglass
wearers cannot view themselves without their eyewear. This is a problem
that many patients have complained about over the years. The technology
is now available to solve this problem. It is called the “Smart
Mirror,” and the only one in our area is now in our office
How does the Smart Mirror work? You put on the frame you are considering, and the Smart Mirror takes a picture. This can be repeated for a total of four frames. Then you put your own glasses back on, and look at the Smart Mirror to see what the new frames look like with you wearing them. Each image can be enlarged to a full screen view, and the frame selection can be changed at any time to view additional frame styles
The Smart Mirror can also demonstrate things other than frames. Once the frame has been chosen, the unit demonstrates the visual and cosmetic benefits of anti-reflection coatings. By entering a choice of the various lens materials available and your prescription, the Smart Mirror will provide an accurate lens thickness and weight comparison. It can show you how large or small your lenses will make your eyes look, and how changing lens materials and designs will make a difference. You can see the lens benefits and make educated decisions as to your lens design.
Smart Mirror can simulate activated (darkened) and non-activated (faded or clear) photochromic (such as Transitions™ or PhotoGrey™) lenses, as well as polarized lenses. The visual benefits of these tints can be demonstrated. The appearance of solid as well as gradient tints can be simulated.
Even contact lens wearers can utilize the Smart Mirror. If you are interested in tinted contact lenses to change your eye color, it can show you what you would look like with up to six different colors of tinted soft contact lenses. The Smart Mirror can demonstrate a number of products, allowing you to make more informed decisions. It represents a significant step forward in the level of service we can provide you. There is no additional charge for this service.
Trace
and Transmit
If you choose to have new lenses put into an existing frame, we now
have way that we can do this without needing to send your frame to
the lab in most cases. Our trace-and-transmit unit makes a highly
accurate measurement of the exact size and shape of the lens openings
of your current frame. This information is sent via the Internet
to the lab, where the lenses can be made to precisely fit your frame

Dispensing
Each prescription received from the laboratory is checked thoroughly for accuracy
of prescription and fabrication exactly as ordered. The Humphrey Lens Analyzer
is a computerized instrument that allows us to determine exactly what a patient’s
previous prescription is, and makes sure that new prescriptions are accurately
filled.
When the prescription is delivered to you, it is adjusted correctly to provide
a proper fit. Follow-up care of your glasses is always available at our office.
Adjustments are available without an appointment. Eyewear repair and loaner
frames are available when needed, so that you need not be without your prescription
in most cases.
