Examination
technology
We have the latest diagnostic equipment. We use the Humphrey
Frequency Doubling Technology Visual Field Analyzer to precisely
monitor peripheral (side) vision. The computer-assisted examination
is a simple, quick test that requires no response from the patient, and
yields important information to double-check the patient’s answers.
This allows us to be sure the glasses are correct. The non-contact
tonometer allows us to measure eye pressure (for glaucoma)
without touching the eye, and is done on everyone possible.
To more thoroughly examine the back of the eyes of adults, we often recommend that the pupils be dilated. (If you have not had your pupils dilated previously, we recommend you have a driver available, in case your vision is bothered temporarily by the dilation). A digital fundus camera allows pictures to be taken of the inside of the eye (the retina) to better follow potential eye diseases, and as a baseline to compare over time.
Dispensing
Each prescription received from the laboratory is checked thoroughly for
accuracy of prescription and fabrication exactly as ordered. The
Humphrey Lens Analyzer is a computerized instrument that
allows us to determine exactly what a patient’s previous prescription
is, and makes sure that new prescriptions are accurately filled.
